    Since its foundation over 50 years ago, Beijing Forestry University has brought up numerous elites of high qualification as well as lots of foreign students. Among them are 12 CAE and CAS members, including the Vice President of CAE and the Minister of Science and Technology. These CAE and CAS members are representatives of the most excellent graduates from BFU, and also elites or wealth cherished by China.

沈国舫(Shen Guofang)

    Shen Guofang is a CAE member, the former vice President of CAE, a professor at BFU, a forester, an educator in Forestry, an expert in Silviculture, a member of NPC, as well as the former Director of China Forest Association.
    He has carried out various researches into the fields of Site Quality Evaluation, Suitable Tree Species in Suitable Place, Mixed Forest Construction, Rapid-growing and High-yield Forest Breeding, Forestation Technique in Drought and Half-drought Area, as well as Urban Forest. He is considered in many fields as a pathbreaker.
During his presidentship from 1986 to 1993, he has made great contribution to the development of BFU.
    He has committed himself to the sustainable and strategic development of forestry in China, played an important role in the decision-making as to forestry in China.


关君蔚(Guan Junwei)

    Guan Junwei is a CAE member, a professor at BFU, an expert in Soil and Water Conservation, a pathbreaker in Soil and Water Conservation in China, as well as the deputy Director of China Sand Prevention and Control Association.
    For a long time he has devoted himself to the teaching of and scientific research in Soil and Water Conservation as well as Protection Forest in China. He has founded the specialty and department of Soil and Water Conservation, which is of Chinese characteristics and is the first of its kind in China.
    He has spent a long time on field work, and gained significant achievement in the fields of Mountain Area Construction and Protection Forest Theory, which is an outstanding contribution to the development of Soil and Water Conservation in China.


陈俊愉(Chen Junyu)

    Chen Junyu is a CAE member, a professor at BFU, the founder and leader of Ornamental Horticulture in China, as well as the first Ph.D. supervisor in Ornament Plant.
    He has invented a new technique of “Wild Flower Breeding” and Dual Classification of Flowering. He has also successfully bred over 80 species of plum blossom, ground-cover chrysanthemum, rose, Chinese rose and Camellia chrysantha of various fastness.
    His books, including Flower in China, Typology of Flower in China as well as Plum Blossom in China, have important impacts in the circle of International Flower and Landscape.


孟兆祯(Meng Zhaozhen)

    Meng Zhaozhen is a CAE member, a professor at BFU, as well as an expert in Landscape Architecture.
    He has proposed a new teaching mechanism in the specialty of Landscape Architecture Planning and Design based on traditional mechanism. He has also founded the first authorization spot for doctoral degree in this specialty in China.
    Under his guidance, 3 students have been awarded in the International Landscape Architecture Student Design Competition for 4 times.
    He has presided over 36 items of designs of various themes at home and abroad, and received important awards for many times.
    He has integrated the content of botany, national characteristics of Chinese traditional landscape, regional features and modern societies into an entity. His designs have won great appraisals from experts, leaders from government as well as numerous sightseers.


朱之悌(Zhu Zhiti)

    Zhu Zhiti was a CAE member, a professor at BFU, an expert in Forest Tree Breeding, as well as an expert in Populus Tomentosa. He passed away at 8:40pm on 22nd of January, 2005, enjoying a life of 76 years.
    He has carried out systematic research in Populus Tomentosa Breeding during his long period of teaching and scientific research.
He has successfully bred a new specie of Populus Tomentosa that needs a lumbering rotation of five year, and grows two to three times faster in volume than other specie of Populus Tomentosa.
    In addition, he has invented a new technique in series nursery, and overcome the difficulty of Populus Tomentosa seedling and reproducing, which is a great contribution to the conservation of high-quality Populus Tomentosa species and relevant research methods on it.


尹伟伦(Yin Weilun)

    Yin Weilun is a CAE member, a forester, the President of BFU, Prof., as well as a PH.D supervisor.
    With a crossed advantage of forestry and biology, he has dealt with the problem of low specie productivity and scarcity of high-quality species, and has invented techniques that enhance the selection and breeding of strong rapid-growing and high-yield seedlings. He has won the Third Prize of National Invention Award once, the Second Prize of National Technological Progress Award three times, the Third Prize of National Science and Technology Advancement Award once, the First Prize of National Teaching Reform Award once, as well as provincial awards for 15 times. He has published 83 papers, 12 master pieces, and won 7 patents.
    He has been employed as an expert in Mid and Long Term Scientific and Technological Strategies in China, an chief expert in Forestry Strategies, an executive member of International Poplar Commission, the director of Forestry Training Center in Asia-Pacific Area, the deputy director of China Forest Association, the chairperson of China Poplar Commission, an editor and vice managing editor with the journal Forestry Science, as well as an member and deputy director-general of Life Science Division in Science and Technology Commission at Ministry of Education. He has won 10 honorary awards, including Exemplary of Scientific and Technological Worker, National Model Teacher, National Excellent Teacher, as well as Young and Middle-aged Expert of Outstanding Contribution to China. He has brought up 52 postgraduates.


徐冠华(Xu Guanhua)

    Xu Guanhua, graduated from BFU of forestry major in 1963, is a CAS member, an expert in Remote Sensing, the former Minister of Science and Technology, as well as the founder of Computer Automatic Recognition on Satellite Image.
    He has invented the first Digital Image Processing System in China, developed the first Technical Regulation on Recyclable Resources Remote Sensing Integrated Survey and Complex Series Mapping Method, which occupy a global leading position as to Remote Sensing Application as well as Information Resource Evaluation.
    His Theory, the Application of Digital Satellite Images in Forestry Resources Survey, has provided a solid base for forestry resources survey of high discrimination and high efficiency.


张新时(Zhang Xinshi)

    Zhang Xinshi, graduated from BFU of forestry major in 1955, is a CAE member, an ecologist, a former vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as the founder of Quantitative Analysis System of Community Ecology in China.
    He has carried out thorough research into the Distribution Pattern of Forest Vegetation in Xin Jiang, Geographical Distribution Pattern of Deserted Grassland, as well as Pattern of Natural Zones and Vegetation in Tibet Plateau.
    He has founded the Laboratory of Quantitative Vegetation Ecology at Institute of Botany at Chinese Academy of Sciences, which occupies a leading position in the Geographic Information System (GIS), multi-analysis, as well as math-model.
    He is the first to propose the forecast theory of Chinese ecosystem’s impact on global climate change.


王 涛(Wang Tao)

    Wang Tao, graduated from BFU of forestry major in 1959, is a CAE member, a forester, a member of Environment and Resource Protection Committee of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, as well as the honorary Dean of College of Biological Science and Technology.
    For a long time she has devoted herself to Application and Study of ABT Root-inducing Powder, which greatly enhances the quantity and quality of forestry and agricultural production in China.
    She has been awarded the National Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution to China, as well as National Model of Women – Red-Banner Pacesetter. She has been granted an audience by the leaders from governments and CPC several times.


唐守正(Tang Shouzheng)

    Tang Shouzheng, graduated from BFU of forestry major in 1963, is a CAS member, an expert in forestry resource, a mathematician, as well as the honorary Dean of College of Information Science and Technology.
    He is the first to analyze forestry with math methods. He has founded the greatest Forest Resources Monitoring System in the world, forecasted for the first time the trend in timber forest resources development in China.
    He has resided the research on the Dynamic Model and Simultaneous Technology in Forestry, proposed the concept of Invariant Height Growth Model and the principle of Model Compatibility, which serves as the theoretical base for Growth Model. He has brought quantitative analysis into forestry production and research in China.
    He has completed many research projects, including the application of Multi-analysis and IBM-PC serial programming package in forestry.


李文华(Li Wenhua)

    Li Wenhua, graduated from BFU of forestry major in 1953, is a CAE member, a member of International Academy of Sciences for Europe and Asia (IASEA), a forester, an ecologist, as well as the leader in resources and ecological engineering in China.
    He has carried out thorough research in the geographical distribution, structure, function and productivity of forest in China, provided models and patterns for the sustainable development of forest and ecosystem in Tibet Plateau.
    He has led the research in resource exploitation and complex scientific survey in Tibet Plateau as well as south-east four provinces or autonomous region.
    He used to work in several international plans, lead several great international ecological researches, and found a global eco-network.


汪菊渊(Jiang Juyuan)

    Jiang Juyuan is a CAE member, an expert and educator in landscape architecture, an expert in floriculture, as well as the technical advisor with Beijing Landscape Bureau. He passed away at 1:30pm on 28th of January, 1996, enjoying a life of 83 years.
Since 1956, he is the deputy Director of Department of Urban Resident Area Forestation, a professor, as well as a postgraduate supervisor.
    Mr. Wang was the respectable leader and the first CAE member in Landscape Architecture in China. In the past several decades, he founded the subject of Landscape Architecture in China, and became the founder of the specialty of Landscape Planning in China, with the consent from experts including Liang Sicheng, an architect. The specialty has now become the School of Landscape Architecture at BFU.
